100 years ago Sumatra, Indonesia had 16 million hectares of lowland rainforests, today the figure is a pitiful ½ million hectares.

Bamboo is a grass, not a wood, it has an extensive root system that continues to replenish itself continually sending up new shoots. It is re-harvestable every 3 to 5 years, making it one of the most renewable resources in the world. It’s harder than maple, lighter than oak and can be as strong as steel.
